My literary artist

A few minutes ago...

T: Uhhh, why do my brothers always have to write in my journal books?! Why cant they leave me some peace?! I am just trying to write my own chapter book, geesh! I am trying to record my birth, my childhood, and how I became 6. And I cant forget my beginning and my ending.

This kid is too deep for me. He asked me about a new journal earlier this week so he could draw an important picture each day,  "you know like day 1 and then all the way up to the day I die?"
HUH?
I told him he could simply draw on a piece of paper and staple them together. Nope..."I need it to look like a book that I can read for years to come". Alrighty then!

I kinda forgot about it and hoped he would until a few minutes ago. He was clearly very annoyed with his brother's intrusions into his thoughts and drawings. I could tell he was craving something of his own. He HAS been conducting some rather deep conversations with me while I have been on break. I should fuel this. So I asked Charito if he had any of those journals or sketchbooks I had given him as gifts in years past. If I have never mentioned it before, he is a wonderful artist but has brushed it aside. He pulled out a book I gave him in 2009 he hadnt touched. I heard him tell Triston that I passed it onto him and now he was passing it onto him. T ran up to tell me the conversation and immediately began drawing. I am looking forward to what transpires!

He has been in drawing and writing mood for so long now and I feel like Kindergarten just increased it even more. And I know he is not the only kindergartener going thru this phase. So many of my girlfriends are commenting the same. Years ago I was so impressed with his fine motor skills and his drawing abilities and now I just love to see his ideas come to life in even more detailed drawings and sentences. That detailed verbal kid is now just as detailed with his written words too. I love the imagination and creativity. I have been meaning to keep a photo log of it but am way behind. I will put together some pics soon. I especially love the more recent drawings he made for G and I as we returned home from the hospital. Until then, my little guy took a break from his chapter books (he has slammed 6 in the past two days!) for some art. Luv him!

My favorite conductor in the whole wide world!

Fun time w T

Triston has been so sweet with his creations lately. He is all about recycling so he takes all my boxes and converts them into something. This was a home for a quarter toy flip frog (remember those when we were little? ) that he received from the treasure box at school. He named it Maible and decided it needed a home. The following week he was able to choose from the treasure box again and he picked a yellow frog so Maible was not alone anymore.
His Awanas vest. So proud he received all the gems on his wings a few mos ago.
His school Fun Fest. He is really into the Mario Bros lately.
My guy is so much fun!

Pause button please!

This sweet face is moving up in the world (he takes out my winter hats and wears them all over the house!)

In March he learned how to climb out of his crib. He simply decided when he was done with his nap there was no need to wait for someone to get him. He climbed out all ninja-like and was found playing quietly with his toys on the floor, looking up at us like "what, I got this!" It took a few attempts for me to understand how he was actually getting out! It was a very stealth, gymnast-like move I tell ya! But with any slip of his forearm he could have seriously injured himself at anytime! So after a couple of hospital stays and confidence that I would be home for a good week to lay down the law for the transition we switched him to the big boy bed.  Here is my babiest baby at 20 mos :

Grayson thought it was pretty neat! He never made into this bed bc come time for his move he went into the trundle to share a room w Triston for Caden's arrival into our world.
As for the lawmaker in town, no transition needed! He took to it so easily just like my other babies. I think he likes his quiet time now. We simply sing the same lullaby song and place him in. If he is not quite ready to pass out he plays on his own and eventually is found in his bed with some toy or book fast asleep. I love my babies!! Oh and did I mention that in the same month he was pushing for the potty, too?! Lots on my plate right now but this is my kinda thing. Bring it!
