A special one

This was taped on the front of the envelope

This is by far one of my fav school projects Triston has come home with! I LOVE asian art of almost any kind. And it has nothing to do with Charito (surprised?). I studied it in college and found a new love. Just walk around my home!

It is a Sumi-e painting. Typical tools consist of ink, brushes and an ink stone. He used straw, ink blot (watered down tempera paint), and index finger. A drop was placed on his paper and he used the straw to blow and move the "ink" and create the tree-like image. Then he used his finger to create the red cherry blossoms. Finally, he stamped the chinese character for LOVE in the lower right hand corner.

I cannot wait to frame it and put it up in the house somewhere. This is the third piece of artwork he has come home w this school year depicting some type of artistic method. How cultural! I AM GETTTING what I pay for that is for sure! I hope to fulfill my wish to take him to the art institute soon. I just KNOW he would love it. I havent been since the first year or so that Charito and I were "courting". 17 years ago! I miss it!

He had me open it as soon as he handed it to me outside his dismissal door. I teared up. One day he will understand how much I enjoy cherry blossoms and asian art. But for now, he knew I loved it right away. He was so proud. I am so proud! Happy Mother's Day to me!
